It’s only the end of August, and beach season is still in full swing, but we’re already getting geared up for fall. Sprinkle a little bit of autumn into your afternoon snack even before the leaves start changing with Chobani’s new limited-batch apple cinnamon and pumpkin spice flavored Greek yogurt. Both flavors are cinnamon-y and nutmeg-y enough to make you want to go outside right now and jump into a pile of leaves.

But hurry; like so many of our beloved pumpkin spice-flavored things, these are limited edition. The new Chobani flavors hit shelves on September 1, and will only be offered through January 15. After that, Chobani has hinted that you can expect other new and exciting flavors in early 2015.

What’s pretty cool is that unlike other pumpkin spice-flavored things (we’re looking at you, Starbucks), Chobani’s yogurt is made with real apples and pumpkin purée, so it’s a healthier and delicious. But be careful: this snack has between 12 and 16 grams of sugar per serving, so it may be more of an after-school treat than a smart breakfast.

PUMPKIN Spice Yogurt

Before all you jerks out there get into the Christmas frenzy on November 1, let’s take a moment to enjoy yet another offering of fall. Since, ya know…today IS Halloween! Chobani has been good enough to offer us pumpkin spice yogurt. And it is delicious. Yogurt used to be one of those things I ate because I knew it was good for me and added things like chocolate sprinkles to make it taste better. BUT NOW I can actually enjoy my yogurt AND appreciate fall flavors.

Of course, we could have the pumpkin spice vs. pumpkin argument. I will admit that pumpkin will always trump pumpkin spice. However, it still has the essence of fall infused into the creamy yogurt. The spice flavors are definitely there and it reminds me of a pumpkin pie filling, just a little creamier. It’s not too heavy, but it is a good snack that will satisfy. Of course, in true ES fashion, I’ve started to make a list of concoctions to make with Pumpkin Spice Yogurt. Here we go:

  • Put it in the mini graham cracker crust pies and freeze – top with whipped cream
  • Mix with cream cheese and make a pumpkin cheese cake
  • Pumpkin Spice Smoothies
  • Pumpkin Spice Yogurt Parfait layered with Vanilla Wafers and chocolate chips

Pumpkin Yogurt

I think it's safe to say that I've made my love of breakfast very clear.

I am a breakfast eater - no matter what. Even when I have a 3:15am wakeup call , I will be eating breakfast.

I typically make protein pancakes or egg muffins and have those ready to be reheated. However, some mornings I am out of pancakes or eggs or whatever, and I need something quick and tasty.

I did a week full of pumpkin recipes in October , but I feel like there's always room to add a few more pumpkin recipes if they're worthy.

This Pumpkin Yogurt is more than worthy. It's creamy and dreamy and healthy.

It takes less than 5 minutes to make and can even be made ahead of time.

It has similar ingredients that the Pumpkin Pie Smoothie has but it is less time consuming and doesn't require any extra dishes to be washed. Yes, I love that Pumpkin Pie Smoothie with all my guts, but I love this yogurt almost as much.

All you need to do is stir together some yogurt, pumpkin puree, cinnamon, a touch of maple syrup, and a little vanilla and/or almond extract if you're feeling fancy. Sprinkle with some chopped pecans and call it breakfast. Or snack. Or a lazy lunch.

It's a great way to start your day with protein, healthy fats, fiber, vitamins & minerals , without much added sugar .


Preheat oven to 300°F. In a large mixing bowl, combine the pureed pumpkin, VOSKOS® Greek Yogurt, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves and whisk together until thoroughly blended. Stir in eggs and vanilla. Whisk until blended.

Mound the pumpkin mixture into the pie shell and jiggle the pan gently to help it find its level. Bake for about 1 hour, until set in the center.

Cool completely, serve with cinnamon whipped cream.

Using an electric mixer, mix until heavy cream creates stiff peaks. Add a dollop of whipped cream to a slice of pie or spread over entire pie and serve.

Chobani's Newest Flavor Is Like Pumpkin Cheesecake in a Cup

You're going to flip for it (and the brand's other limited-edition flavors).

It isn't even September 1, and we've already seen the introduction of Pumpkin Spice Peeps, Pecan Pie M&Ms and Pumpkin Pie Pop Tarts on store shelves. Well, it's time to make way for three more fall-inspired foods, from the makers of all things Greek yogurt, Chobani.

This year marks the return of 2014's limited-edition flavor, Pumpkin Spice, as well as the introduction of two all-new flavors: Cinnamon Pear Greek yogurt, and Pumpkin Harvest Crisp "Flip" Greek yogurt, which features pumpkin low-fat yogurt with a side of pie crust pieces, pecans and glazed pumpkin seeds. The "Flip" flavor has already been spotted on grocery store shelves, and a representative for Chobani says all three flavors will be available at major supermarkets nationwide.

Here's what it looks like when opened:

The team taste-tested all three flavors, and Pumpkin Harvest Crisp immediately emerged as a fan favorite. The mix-ins are large enough that you can taste each flavor (especially the pie crust pieces) and, when combined with the tanginess of pumpkin-flavored yogurt, the treat tastes a lot like a pumpkin cheesecake with a hint of pecan.

The Pear Cinnamon flavor features small bits of pear and flecks of cinnamon. There's a slight fragrance to it, reminiscent of walking into a Bath & Body Works in mid-September, but thankfully, taste-testers said the flavor wasn't at all body cream-esque: It was more like if you chopped pears, and swirled them into plain Greek yogurt with a spoonful of honey and a shake of ground cinnamon.

For the purists, the Pumpkin Spice Greek yogurt features pureed pumpkin, cinnamon and nutmeg. A little lemon juice brightens the yogurt, so it's not as heavy as a classic pumpkin pie filling, but it has all the flavor of one. Basically, it's the Pumpkin Harvest Crisp Flip without the mix-ins.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Pumpkin Spice Edition

Fall is just around the corner, and how do we know this? Because Starbucks has unleashed their fall drinks including their infamous pumpkin spice latte! Companies far and wide are jumping on the pumpkin spice craze this year and have created a pumpkin spice classics of their own.

Below is a list of some of the craziest pumpkin spice products on the market and, being the brave soul that I am, I tried each and every one of them to save everyone the hassle of deciding what they really wanted, because, you know, deciding what pumpkin spice product you want can be a tough decision.

Pumpkin Pie Pop Tarts: I tried these two different ways because there are two types of people in the world – those who warm up their Pop Tarts and those that eat them straight out of the package I felt like I needed to fairly represent both. First, I tried the Pop Tart not warmed up and it was not bad. The pumpkin spice taste was strong as well as too sweet for my preference. I would probably only be able to eat one every so often because it would be too much for me. When warmed up, it was one hundred times better. I felt like the pumpkin spice taste was not as strong. It almost felt like I was eating a warm pie on Thanksgiving. If you are going to eat these, I would highly recommend heating them first. Rating: Good

Pumpkin Spice M&Ms: Actually, these do not taste like pumpkin spice. When I first opened the package and looked at the candy pieces, I thought I was in a world of trouble they were big and fat and all I could think of was “this is going to be pumpkin spice overload.” I was surprised when I popped them into my mouth and they tasted like normal M&Ms, with the tiniest hint of nutmeg. After eating about four or five M&Ms, I did not even notice the nutmeg taste. Rating: Bad

Frontera Chipotle Pumpkin Salsa: No to all the nos – I did not like this one bit. If someone took a picture of my face when I was eating this, it would have looked like the squiggly faced emoji – the one that looks in pain. The salsa was extremely bland with a weird pumpkin taste and whole bunch of heat. The heat is not what bugged me, it was the pumpkin flavor. There was too much pumpkin that engulfed your mouth with every crunch of the chip and it did not complement the rest of the flavors in the salsa. Rating: Ugly

Samuel Adams Harvest Pumpkin Ale: The beer tasted like a normal ale to me. If I did not know that this was supposed to be a pumpkin beer, than I would not have realized that it had any type of pumpkin in it. It was a good beer, but it did not live up to what was on its label. Rating: Bad

Chobani Pumpkin Spice Blended Greek Yogurt: This was really good in my opinion. It was not too sweet and it did not have an overwhelming taste of pumpkin spice. It tastes like Chobani took a pumpkin pie and mashed it into Greek yogurt. It is really creamy and does not have any chunks in it like some Greek yogurt can have. I also really like the light orange color it has. Rating: Good

In the end, most of the products I tasted were not that bad and I think that a lot of people would like them if they like sweet foods. I’m not a fan of super sweet food, which is why I liked the Chobani yogurt the best. Pumpkin spice is a great blessing in disguise and I will always give a new pumpkin spice product a try just because I love it that much. Now, I am off to get yet another pumpkin spice latte and welcome fall!

Pumpkin Yogurt: The only seasonal pumpkin-flavored product I love

It is that time of the year – Fall is around the corner and pumpkin flavors are slowly beginning to show up all around us. Personally, Fall is my favorite time of the year but pumpkin not so much.

While shopping for my Greek yogurt this weekend, I noticed that Chobani has put its Pumpkin Spice Blended Greek Yogurt on the grocery store shelves – being seasonal, it is a ‘limited batch’ product. Maybe it was the limited batch label that prompted me or maybe I was encouraged by my daughter who is always looking for new flavors that I put this yogurt in my cart.

I am writing this blog to share that to my surprise I found this flavor to be delicious! Not being a pumpkin fan, I wasn’t expecting much from this yogurt but it can be a good dessert choice if you are looking for pumpkin flavor. It gives you 12 grams of protein for 120 calories vs. a cup of pumpkin ice cream that can range from 300 – 400 calories.

The amount of added sugars is usually a concern for flavored yogurts. The nutrition label for Chobani products does not list ‘added sugars’ yet. Since yogurt has some natural sugars, I did this calculation by comparing the label to a Plain Chobani yogurt…it looks like there are 8 grams of added sugars in this particular flavor which is pretty decent for a flavored yogurt. Plain Greek yogurt with your own fresh cut fruits is always the best choice to keep the amount of added sugar under control. However, if that doesn’t satisfy your palate and you are craving pumpkin this Fall season then give Chobani Pumpkin Spice Blended yogurt a try!
